Congressman Steve Scalise was one of the 20 House Republicans who met with President Obama Thursday.
Scalise told Rush Radio's Denny Schaffer there's a long way to go in resolving differences.
"There's a lot of things that have to get worked out. The President did agree to continue talking with the Speaker's staff and his staff. There's some big issues we got to work out, and a lot of this is revolving around things that are holding back our economy," Scalise said.
Scalise believes the discussions between House Republicans and White House staffers over federal spending and raising the nation's debt ceiling will continue through the weekend.
"There are really big differences between the House and the Senate and the White House and you solve them by getting into a room and start working through those differences to get things done, to get the government open, to extend the debt ceiling in ways that reform the problems that we're seeing in our economy," Scalise said.
