State Offices In 33 Parishes Closed Friday Due To Weather
Because of fears that a wintry mix of precipitation over parts of the state might produce hazardous driving conditions and possible power outages, state officials closed state government offices Friday in 33 parishes north and west of New Orleans.
Among those affected were state offices in East Baton Rouge Parish, West Baton Rouge Parish and Lafayette Parish.
A mix of snow flurries, freezing rain and sleet was reported over portions of the state early Friday morning.
Highs Friday were forecast to be around 43 degrees from Shreveport south to New Orleans. Under sunny skies, highs Saturday were expected to be around 60.
