A public fishing pier damaged by Hurricane Isaac last year is set to reopen next month near Slidell.
The New Orleans Advocate reports that the St. Tammany Parish Fishing Pier was open less than four months before the 2012 storm struck the area.
Parish spokeswoman Amy Bouton said the pier is scheduled to reopen on Jan. 11.
The pier was partially built last year with material that was salvaged from the old Interstate 10 twin spans, which were demolished by Hurricane Katrina's storm surge in 2005.
Pier repairs began in September and were funded by grants from the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Louisiana Tourism Recovery Program.
