Former New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin's lawyer is raising the possibility that three former federal prosecutors could be called to testify as Nagin seeks a delay of his October bribery trial.
Nagin sought the delay last week while his attorney gathers more information about a Justice Department probe of anonymous online comments posted by prosecutors. Two former prosecutors — Sal Perricone and Jan Mann — resigned after their postings came to light. The scandal eventually led to the resignation of their boss, then-U.S. Attorney Jim Letten.
Prosecutors say the three were not involved in the Nagin investigation.
Nagin lawyer Robert Jenkins, however, says he needs details on the federal probe into the online posts. And he may seek to have Letten, Perricone and Mann testify about the posts in court.
