District "C" Councilmember Kristin Gisleson Palmer, whose district is on both sides of the river, has opened a satellite Council office in Algiers.
The new office is located in the Arthur Monday Center at 1111 Newton Street, in Room 106, and is open from 9am to 1pm, Monday through Friday.
Palmer says having a Council office on the West Bank makes it easier for West Bank residents to meet with her and her staff.
"We have computers there. If people don't want to go downtown, we're connected to City Hall so we can get on there and report complaints or issues," Palmer said.
Palmer also said the new office will not cost taxpayers.
"I just make sure that we pay lease agreements to the city of New Orleans which basically keeps the money within the city, and there's no added cost to the citizen," Palmer said.
The new Algiers District "C" Council office will have a grand opening on Thursday, September 19, at 10am.
