Charges Dropped Against 4 Mother's Day Shooting Accomplices

New Orleans prosecutors have dismissed charges against four women who were accused of helping two brothers avoid capture after they allegedly opened fire on the crowd at a Mother's Day second-line parade in May.

Bionca Hickerson, Nekia Youngblood, Brandy George and Monique Pepe had been charged as accessories to attempted murder and assault, but The New Orleans Advocate reports that the Orleans Parish District Attorney's Office dropped the charges against them on Friday.

Similar charges against a fifth person, Justin Alexander, were dismissed last month.

The two alleged gunmen, Akein and Shawn Scott, were arrested several days after the shootings at the parade. Police said 19 people were struck by bullets, while another person was injured while fleeing. Nobody was killed.
