The general manager of the Alario Center says the departure of the New Orleans Pelicans from the center to their own practice facility will mean a loss of $231,000 for the center, but it opens an opportunity for the facility to host a wider variety of events.
GM Lydia Folse tells 99.5FM, "It's going to create a revenue gap for the Alario Center. We won't have that income coming in for the use of Hall C, which was the training space and the administrative offices."
Folse says the most immediate concern is to get the building ready so they can market Hall C, former occupied by the Pelicans, which is a multi-purpose space.
"We are taking steps now to aggressively start letting people know that the building's here, it's available," Folse said. "We'd like to see some home and garden shows, outdoor shows, trade expos, those types of things."
The Pelicans' new "state of the art" training and practice facility adjoins the Saints facility in Metairie.
