Two New Orleans brothers have acknowledged accidentally killing a 33-year-old mother while trying to gun down a rival drug dealer.
The Advocate reports that Antoine and Don Brooks pleaded guilty Thursday in federal court to using firearms to further drug trafficking when Tamira Johnson was hit in the head while walking with her 13-year-old son in September 2011.
Both brothers say in court documents that they were trying to kill someone else.
Don Brooks also pleaded guilty to gun charges in the January 2012 deaths of Lamont Phillips and Harry Howard.
Antoine Brooks accepted a sentence of 25 years in prison in the plea agreement. Don Brooks accepted three consecutive 20-year sentences.
U.S. District Judge Lance Africk has scheduled sentencing April 3. The plea agreements need his approval.
